What a cracking day at the 2017 Gage Roads Rottnest Cray competition! We had a great turn out with over 50 entrants. Even sweeter was the free BBQ and cracking a frosty beer by Gage Roads which was generously donated for all participants on the day!

Wind was a stiff SW in the morning blowing around 12-15knts easing to eventually 8-10knts for the most of the morning, (until the journey home of course). Many boats came in with the same outcome, that they just didn’t see many big crays. The WA Undersea Club and Gage Roads Brewing Co, present the 2017 Rottnest Cray Competition. This annual competition is a favourite amongst the WA Freedive fraternity. Crayfish weigh in is held on the picturesque Rottnest island, at the former ammunition jetty, on the south west side of Thomson Bay.

Entry is free for financial WAUC members and winners will be up for some great prizes. The club will also have a free lunch waiting for you at the weigh in.

Thanks to Gage Roads Brewing, their generous sponsorship of the competition will ensure winners wont go home thirsty.

Prizes for heaviest crays (1st, 2nd and 3rd) lightest legal cray (with all limbs attached) and a randomly drawn mystery weight prize for any cray weighed.… Read more

The 2017 WA Undersea Club Inc AGM was held at Allegro Pizza l’Hermitage in Claremont on Tuesday the 11th of July.  There was a great turn out with over 40 members in attendance to review the WAUCs achievements over the past year and elect a new committee for 2017-18. Not to mention announce the winners of the Mackerel1000 and Yellow Tail Kingfish competitions.

Hi members

Its that time of the year where we need to get together to have some fun and get a bit of official club business settled. Come and celebrate another year of the West Australian Undersea Club Inc!

We have the catering all sorted with finger food on the menu and drinks available from the bar. Over the night we will revisit the years events with a rolling display of pics and videos of the Glynn Dromey, Beagles and Rotto Cray comps! We will also announce the winner of the 2017 Mack 1000 and Yellow tail kingfish competitions.

As a special one off bonus for being a financial WAUC member, we will be drawing a random prize of an Andre Reef Roller Gun worth almost $1000 as a give away.

Arriving at the Lancelin beach sign on point with the sun yet to be seen it was more like a scene from the south coast; it was freezing! At this point I was wishing I had bought my 5mm winter suit rather than the 3mm summer suit! As the pairs began to arrive the anticipation was building. 14 pairs signed in and after a quick safety meeting the 2017 Glynn Dromey pairs spearfishing competition was underway.
